Monday (Morning) - International Politics - In person and Remotely
Prof. Dr. Haroldo Ramanzini Junior
From the perspectives of foreign policy, international institutions, international security, and international political economy, the discipline will examine topics, research problems, and modes of study of international politics. Topics like Regional Integration and Comparative Regionalism: From the European Model to the Perspective of Comparative Regionalism, International Order: the Views of Hedley Bull, Andrew Hurrell, and Barry Buzan will be covered. Foreign policy: Comparative foreign policy, foreign policy analysis, and levels of analysis. factors that influence a state's foreign policy actions. International Organizations, Regimes, and Institutions.
International security: institutional methods, traditional and new mechanisms.
Tuesday (Afternoon) - Critical Studies in International Security - In-person
Prof. Dr. Aureo de Toledo Gomes
The course's goal is to introduce critical viewpoints on international security, particularly those that emerged at the close of the Cold War and started to challenge the realism paradigm's dominance in discourse. Ultimately, it should provide the student the analytical instruments necessary to assess the primary conversations and topics that the critical movement brought to the subject of international security. It should also enable them to consistently recognize the most significant theoretical and empirical advancements made in the field. The discipline is organized around what are commonly referred to as the Copenhagen, Wales, and Paris International Security Schools.
Additionally, theoretical analyses of international security that draw on post-structuralist and post-colonialist viewpoints on international relations will be given preference.
Wednesday (Morning) - Theory of International Relations - In-person
Prof. Dr. Lara Martim Rodrigues Selis
Using a sophisticated and critical perspective, the field investigates the canonical and modern theoretical traditions of international relations. The course, which has an advanced orientation, covers the main ideas and issues in the field, starting with the classical realist and liberal currents and their revisions in the Neo-Neo debate, and moving on to alternative perspectives on the international that come from post-modern, modern, non-Western, and post-colonial traditions. Additionally, empirical-conceptual research are accompanied by methodological, ontological, and epistemological conversations, combining the development of metatheoretical abilities with analytical training. The objective is to offer comprehensive and current instruction that can prepare students for both pure and applied research. Upon completion of the course, the learner should be able to: (i) critically assess theory's definition, applicability, and main fields of application in the field of international relations; (ii) comprehend the field's major theoretical-epistemological advancements; (iii) manage an engaged reading of the authors; and (iv) participate in the theorizing exercise.
Thursday (Morning) - Topics in International Political Economy - In-person

Introducing the student to the most recent literature on topics related to international political economy today is the course's main goal. examination of current issues in international political economy.
